Welcome to College Grad Lessons

Since graduating in May, I’ve realized that there is a lot I wish that someone had told me about life after college before it actually happened. I decided to start the College Grad Lessons blog as a place to share college grad lessons as I learn them. In addition to sharing my experience as a recent college graduate, I hope to provide a collection of resources and tips for recent college graduates and college students about first jobs, housing, budgets and more.

I’ve been out of college for 6 months now. In that short time I’ve experienced a stressful job search, a summer internship, finding an apartment, finding a full-time job in a different location, finding someone to take over my apartment lease, finding a room to rent, making a lot of new friends and learning that “adult life” is very different from college life. So where am I now? I currently work on the Web Services Team the college I graduated from in May and rent a room in a house full of other young professionals. While I’m starting to get used to life after college, I still have a lot to figure out. My hope is that the resources and stories I share here will help other recent or soon-to-be college graduates prepare for and adjust to living on their own and working after college.

A year ago I wished that there were more resources for college students preparing for life after college that were written by recent college graduates. Now that I’ve graduated, I still wish that there was a place to share experiences and learn from other recent college graduates. I hope that this blog will give me the opportunity to help others while building a network of people going through similar experiences. In order to make this blog the most useful resource for everyone, I’d like to encourage you to share their experiences and ask questions by commenting on my posts. If you are a recent college graduate or college student blogging about similar topics, please let me know. I’d love to add you to my Blogroll and read your blog.

    I’m a couple years out of grad school, working at my very first real job, and more recently living with an amazing guy who I didn’t think existed before we met. There’ve been quite a few changes in my path, but I think that’s part of the fun. Enjoy and keep up the blogging!
